Soprano | Fanny Crouet

The French soprano Fanny Crouet Schneider first chose to carry out her university studies in law (she graduated in wealth management and business law from the Paris Sorbonne University). She was working in an international bank company when she met Janine Reiss (Maria Callas and Pavarotti’s coach) who strongly encouraged her to embrace an opera career.

She received full training in arts (violin, singing and drama) at the Conservatoire National de Strasbourg at the Ecole Normale de Musique of Paris which she graduated from in singing and opera performance (Diplôme Supérieur d'Exécution). In order to perfect her repertoire (Mozart, Rossini, R. Strauss), she receives advice in Vienna from Niels Muus (conductor and former casting director of the Volksoper) and from Gerd Uecker (Akademie der Musik Deuthscland). She trained in Alexander Technique with Agnès de Brunhoff (coach of the Paris Opera studio) for two years. She also received advice for the baroque repertoire from Jean-Paul Fouchécourt (Académie des Folies Françoises), from Stéphane Fuget (Académie des Epopées). She currently trains in vocal technique ith Valérie Guillorit (Royal Conservatory of Brussels and Natioal conservatory of Paris).

She was a first prize winner at many national and international competitions, including the Sacred Music Paris competition presided by Victoria Cortez in 2008, Concours International Léopold Bellan (Excellence, 2011), the International “Clés d’Or” competition (excellence in 2011), and was a finalist of the 2016 edition of the Armel Opera competition in Budapest.

On stage, she starded while still a student performing great coloratura roles such as the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Magic Flute (performed 80 times since 2010 in Paris, Le Mans National Theater, Steinway Haus in Munich) the Fairy Godmother in Cendrillon (Massenet) in Paris, lead role in Lakmé (National Theater of Alençon, Concert Hall of Le Mans), and Dolores in Anadalousie by Francis Lopez in Angers Theater.

She has performed the roles of the Fire and the Nightingale (L'enfant et les Sortilèges by Ravel) at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées (Gaël Darchen conductor) and has toured in China (Beijing Concert Hall, Beijing Century Opera Hall, Jinan Opera Hall, Shanghai Art Center Concert Hall, Henan Art Center Theater , Ghuangzhou Opera House).

Since 2016, she has sung many roles in viennese operettas touring in France and Begium (Franzi in Wiener Blut, Adele in the french version of Die Feledemaus and Helen in Waltzer Traum). She has sung many roles by Offenbach (Olympia and Catherine : extracts for a youg audience show in Tours opera House in 2019, Catherine in Le Mariage aux lanternes in L'odéon Theater- Marseille Opera House) and Alexis (l'Ile de Tulipatan) in Paris.

Her silvery voice becoming more velvety, she also sings Frasquita in Carmen (National Theater of Le Mans) in 2017, and Flora (plus cover for Violetta) in La Traviata -National Theater of Le Mans). She will sing some extracts of La sonnamubula for a concert in Massy Opera House in june of 2021.

Her interest in barque music led her to sing the role of l'Amour in Orphée et Eurydice by Gluck (Theatre de Champagne, 2016), staged extracts from the Genio (l'Anima del filosofo by Haydn) and from the role of Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare by Handel. She will perform the title role of Agrippina by Haendel with the Acadmie lyrique de l'Opéra Nomade in 2022.

She will sing the role of Despina (cosi fan tutte) and Eurydice (Orphée aux enfers) in Rennes in 2022 and 2023.

She regularly performs in recitals of art songs (performances in Salle Gaveau, Salle Cortot, Villa du Châtelet, Maroccos' National Library, Festival des Forêts) and in oratorios (Bach Cantatas, Fauré’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Haendel’ Messiah, Coronation Mass by Mozart, exsultate Jubilate).

Her world premiere recording of Leo Delibes’ melodies, with Artur Avanesov on the piano, was released in 2014 under the Suoni e Colori label. With a preface and introduction by Alain Duault on Radio Classique, it was presented by Gaëlle Le Gallic on radio France Musique. It was praised by the critics (three stars in Classica Magazine) and was awarded the Massenet prize (Golden Orpheus 2015) by the French Académie du Disque Lyrique in Théâtre du Châtelet.

She recently recorded Delibes’ Flower Duet for the film “Marguerite” (directed by Xavier Giannoli and inspired by Foster Jenkins’ life) which was in competition in the Venice Film Festival. She is also the voice of great actress Catherine Frot in an extract from Norma by Bellini.

She regurlarly works on promoting opera for young audiences and created an experimental opera for babies based on scientific research with the company l'Opéra Buissonnier.

She is fluent in french, english, spanish and speaks as well basic german.
